Our wines, from Portugal to the world
Mainland Portugal is located in Western Europe, at the western end of the Iberian Peninsula, between Spain and the Atlantic Ocean. It enjoys a Mediterranean climate that is very conducive to vine cultivation.
In this country by the sea, wine plays an important role in culture and the economy, with regions such as Douro and Alentejo being internationally recognised for the quality of their production.
Borba, a unique terroir within the vast wine region of Alentejo
The Alentejo, with its extensive, gentle plains, covers almost a third of mainland Portugal and is one of the country's main wine-producing regions. The Alentejo region is undoubtedly the largest wine-producing region in Portugal, accounting for around a third of Portuguese consumption. It is renowned for producing high-quality red and white wines, which are recognised both nationally and internationally.
The Borba region is the second largest wine sub-region in the Alentejo. Located on a plateau above 400 metres and influenced by the Serra d'Ossa, it benefits from a unique microclimate, with rainfall slightly above the regional average, cool nights and hot, dry summers, typical of the Alentejo. Based on calcareous and schist soils, well drained and with good water retention, this region combines natural conditions with a long wine-making tradition, with knowledge passed down through generations. The result is balanced and elegant wines, with freshness, structure and distinctive aromatic profiles.
Marcolino Sebo, the expression of a Unique Terroir
In this region, the tradition of vine cultivation dates back to Roman times. The techniques and knowledge acquired over the centuries and passed down from generation to generation are decisive in how the vines are treated and unique wines are created. These natural and human factors combine to produce harmonious wines, with a perfect balance between freshness and fruit, energy and smoothness.
The Marcolino Sebo winery is a faithful heir to this tradition and, thanks to its unwavering dedication to producing unique wines, has earned a prominent place among the region's leading producers. With 130 hectares spread over seven plots located between Borba and Estremoz, characterised by clay-schist soils, ideal for growing traditional grape varieties, Marcolino Sebo wines reveal the soul of this unique terroir. Thanks to its team, both in the field and in the commercial area, and with the support of oenologist Jorge Santos, Marcolino Sebo produces and markets artisanal wines with their own personality and authentic character.
